New Orleans Public Library's Crescent City Sounds
From now until October 7, the New Orleans Public Library is looking to add 75 new artists to its Crescent City Sounds streaming platform.
Each chosen artist will receive a $250 honorarium, maintain the copyright to their music, and have their album featured on Crescent City Sounds for five years.
Musicians wanting to submit a recording to be featured in Crescent City Sounds must perform primarily in New Orleans. The submission recording must be no older than five years. If selected, the artist must have an album consisting of at least four songs or be equal to 20 minutes long.
Crescent City Sounds

Introduced back in 2022, Crescent City Sounds is an online streaming website through the New Orleans Public Library that provides local music to the community for free. Crescent City Sounds aims to showcase rising musicians and give back to the community in a unique way. After the new selections have been selected this year, Crescent City Sounds will have a total of 225 local albums for the community to listen to.
Library assistant Joshua Smith is leading the selection process this year.
"I think I am more excited for this submission round than any other except for maybe the first one," Smith said in a press release. "Working on this for the last few years has given me the opportunity to connect with so many amazing artists that work in this town. Hearing their stories, seeing their shows and watching them make new connections has been great. Supporting the folks that make our culture is the most rewarding thing I have ever done, and I cannot wait to listen to our new submissions."
