Temporary Studio Brings Historical Preservation
StoryCorps is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the oral history of people across the United States and will be bringing their work to New Orleans as part of their Mobile Tour.
Hosted by WWNO Radio, the program's mobile studio will be located in City Park from November 14 through December 13. This studio will allow residents to share their experiences and memories of living in New Orleans through interviews archived in the Library of Congress.
WWNO General Manager Paul Maassen sees this also as an opportunity to commemorate the upcoming 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans citizens will have a chance to retell the stories that have been reflected on since 2005. WWNO will air a selection of the interviews and compile recollections of Hurricane Katrina to be included in programming during the hurricanes 20th anniversary in 2025.
