Alma Celebrates Pride with Drag Brunches
Alma Cafe Mid-City will host two Pride & Pancakes Drag Brunches on June 22 and 29, combining Honduran cuisine with dazzling performances to celebrate Pride Month.

The events will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Sunday, with show times at 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Held at Alma's Mid-City location at 301 N. Carrollton Ave., the menu will feature restaurant favorites, including Fritas Hondureñas—fried homemade flour tortillas served with refried beans, homemade cream, and queso fresco.
The Baleada Sencilla, a dish of two eggs, refried beans, homemade cream, queso fresco, and avocado on a homemade flour tortilla, will also be available with optional add-ons of chorizo, bacon, mushrooms, pork, or brisket.
For those with a sweet tooth, Melissa's Pancakes delivers stacks of joy with crema fresca, strawberry jam, and powdered sugar. Spicy mimosas and colorful cocktails round out the menu.
About Alma Café

Alma is an award-winning Honduran restaurant that reflects the vision of Owner and Executive Chef Melissa Araujo, a 2024 James Beard Foundation Best Chef Southeast Semifinalist. The name "Alma" means soul in Spanish, and the restaurant was created as a tribute to Chef Araujo's grandmother and her cooking.
The original Alma location opened at 800 Louisa St. in the historic Bywater neighborhood, just outside the French Quarter, operating Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Friday night service from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Mid-City location at 301 North Carrollton Ave. opened to the public in February 2025, marking an exciting addition to one of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods.
