Toasting a British Classic Across the Pond
The Napoleon House on Chartres Street will be celebrating its second annual Pimm's Cup Day on July 1, 2025.
As the world's second-largest Pimm's Cups dispenser (behind only the drink's founding establishment: the London Oyster House), Napoleon House is toasting its signature drink with a spirited day of tastings, demonstrations, and community.
What is a Pimm's Cup?
A mix of gin-based liqueur, lemonade, ginger ale, and cucumber, the Pimm's Cup, crafted by James Pimm in the 1840s, has received world-wide fame for a reason. It is the perfect refreshing drink on a hot summer's day with a rich history steeped in community and British charm. Don your Wimbledon whites or best summer outfit and come sip on a Pimm's Cup at the Napoleon House!
What to Expect
The day will begin at 11 a.m. when, rumor has it, Napoleon himself will rise from the grave and perform champagne sabering. If you happen to see him in the supermarket the next day missing his greatcoat and looking like he definitely knows what a smartphone is, well that's just your imagination. Make sure you, too, dress up in your best French Revolution style outfit for the Napoleon look-alike contest and a chance to win a complimentary lunch gift card.
If you don't win, there's no need to be a sore loser. Take a page out of Napoleon's book and crown yourself the winner.
From 4 to 5 p.m., there will be a ticketed ($25 per person) "Spirited Tour" so that you can learn all about the history of this iconic drink and learn how to make a Pimm's cocktail yourself. Afterward, indulge in the "It's Pimm's O' Clock" Happy Hour (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and drift out to the courtyard for a Pimm's Bar and a photo opportunity. Also, enjoy drinks specials and a free recipe card so you can make Pimm's Cups galore at home.
