NOLA's Annual Run by Hash House Harriers
Lace up your running shoes and throw on your favorite red attire for New Orleans' annual Red Dress Run on the second Saturday in August. The Hash House Harriers, boasting the iconic title of a "drinking club with a running problem", hosts a charity event (with a running problem) like no other.
Since its inception in 1987 by the San Diego
Hash House Harriers, the Red Dress Run has evolved into a global phenomenon,
and New Orleans is no exception. On August 10, 2024, participants will come
together in charity and camaraderie to take on the streets of the Crescent City.
Beginning with Donna Rhinehart, a runner joining in on a hash in her red dress,
the event has quickly taken over the world. The Red Dress Run has gained
traction in cities from Moscow to Tokyo and from Beijing to Montreal.

The run begins in either the French Quarter or Marginy neighborhoods of New Orleans, with the exact location a secret to all those except the runners. The route heads through the French Quarter, where runners, armed with drinks, trot down iconic streets and make stops for refreshments and socializing along the way.
The event is not just about the run of
boozing, it's about giving back. The Red Dress Run is a philanthropic event, with
proceeds going to local charities. Last year, the run raised over $155,000.
