A Day of Ooey, Gooey Goodness
With or without breadcrumbs? A simple cheddar or a four-cheese blend? Elbow pasta? Fusilli? Shells? We all have our own favorite mac n' cheese recipe. A passed-down-through-generations recipe with grandma's secret ingredient. A restaurant favorite. A quick bowl whipped up from a box.
If the last is your favorite, though, you may catch some flack from the mac n' cheese experts at the New Orleans Mac & Cheese and Fried Chicken Festival. Taking place on Sunday, June 29, the festival is a nexus of cheesy goodness, put on by the NOLA Krewe of West Africa.

Dessert & Other Treats
The fest is also featuring Tiana's Beignet Donuts Fest, so you can follow up your mac n' cheese and fried chicken with some warm, powdery fried dough! Truly, does a more heavenly trifecta exist?
The event is not limited to these foods, however, with an assortment of local vendors and restaurants selling specialties such as Jamaican, Honduras, Wholly Burgers, Sweet Tea Sensation, BBQ, Thai Tea, Sno Balls, and Beignets Donuts. Vegan options will also be available. In addition to all the delicious food, there will be activities, live music, and a gospel hour.

Good Food For a Good Cause
Part of the revenue from the festival will support the Queens of Africa United International Foundation USA, who work to help orphans, the elderly, and widows. The organization is also dedicated to preventing sex trafficking and child prostitution, as well as giving educational and verbal support to those with autism.
The festival will take place on Sunday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m at Old Lake Forest Plaza parking lot (5700 Read Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70127). Parking is free, and tickets are $12.51. Guests under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
