The 3rd Annual Hospitality Health Fair

New Orleans & Company is partnering with local healthcare providers to host the Hospitality Health Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fillmore.

The all-day event encourages attendees to take proactive steps for their health by offering 14 free health screenings and services. The third annual Hospitality Health Fair stems from New Orleans & Company's collaboration with 504Healthnet, InclusivCare, LCMC Health, Ochsner Health, and Verite News.

Preventive Health Screenings

Upon entering the Fillmore, attendees can undergo a series of preventive screenings that check their blood pressure and cholesterol. According to the CDC, nearly half of American adults experience high blood pressure. Along with high cholesterol, high blood pressure is a risk factor for heart disease.

Healthcare providers can also check for diabetes, which the CDC recorded in 38 million Americans. Untreated diabetes can lead to lifelong complications.

Gender-Specific Healthcare

The Hospitality Health Fair provides diagnostic services, including men's prostate-specific antigen tests and women's health screenings. STI and HIV testing are available, as well.

The American Cancer Society states that 1 in 8 men receive a diagnosis of prostate cancer, making it one of the most common forms of cancer. Women may experience a type of gynecologic cancer such as cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, or uterine cancer.

Additional Free Services

New Orleans & Company recognizes that health is not just the absence of physical disease; it involves one's mental and social well-being. As part of the fair, the organization has mental health services and stress-relieving massages.

In addition to offering proactive health screenings, the Hospitality Health Fair provides information on hurricane preparedness. Since hurricane season started on June 1, Louisiana residents have been preparing in case a major storm strikes.

Information about smoking cessation is offered by the healthcare providers, with advice on how to successfully quit using tobacco.

Representatives can assist visitors in completing applications for Medicaid, which allows qualifying individuals to receive health coverage. For more information on applying for Medicaid, please visit the Louisiana Department of Health's website.

Attend the Hospitality Health Fair

All these services and more are available free of charge at the New Orleans & Company's Hospitality Health Fair. Those interested in attending may park for free at the Hilton Whale Lot and ride a shuttle to the Fillmore. Public transportation options provide an alternative means of travel to and from the Fillmore.

Visit the Hospitality Health Fair to take an active approach to addressing your health. You may even receive free groceries thanks to New Orleans & Company's giveaways.
