Poor Boys That Save Lives

Parkway Bakery & Tavern is teaming up with the Al Copeland Foundation, as well as Crystal Hot Sauce, in order to help save lives by conquering cancer. On every Wednesday during November, Parkway will be serving their famous Thanksgiving Poor Boy for the annual #IDidItForTheTurkey fundraiser. Each po-boy is overflowing with roasted turkey, gravy, stuffing, and cranberry sauce.

For those who are committed to supporting this cause, there will be a "Skip the Line" ticket available to skip the line between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The ticket goes for $100 and includes not only your Thanksgiving Poor Boy, but a commemorative t-shirt, sweet potato fries, fresh-made lemonade by ACF Junior Board Member Joshua Bertuglia, and a pumpkin spice ice cream sandwich by New Orleans Ice Cream.

Tickets are available for purchase at the Al Copeland Foundation's website or in person every Wednesday at the Al Copeland Foundation tent outside Parkway Bakery & Tavern. Those who choose to purchase the Thanksgiving Poor Boy without a ticket will also be able to benefit the Al Copeland Foundation, as a portion of all sandwich sales will go to them.

Sandwiches for a Good Cause

The Al Copeland Foundation has been on an unwavering mission to save lives from cancer with innovative cancer treatments since 2008. They have raised a staggering $2.3 million for this incredible cause. ACF, in partnership with LSU Health and Science Center, have accomplished their main purpose of finding a cure for the cancer that took Al Copeland, Sr.'s life and did it in under a decade. They recently received national recognition for their virtual clinical trial access program, which provides accessibility through telehealth medicine. They are constantly providing access, awareness, and education to the latest cancer treatments for all age groups.

Justin Kennedy, who is the general manager and head chef at Parkway Bakery & Tavern, has expressed his excitement for renewing the partnership with ACF, as well as welcoming Crystal Hot Sauce to join the team. He shared in a press release that "[s]upporting one another is a hallmark of New Orleans, and we extend a warm invitation to all to enjoy this special time of the year. The #IDidItForTheTurkey campaign champions a truly vital cause and is now bigger and better thanks to support from our friends at Crystal Hot Sauce."

Al Copeland, Jr., current president of the Al Copeland Foundation, has also shared that he is "deeply grateful for Justin making the Al Copeland Foundation a part of this one-of-a-kind Thanksgiving Poor Boy tradition" and that "[w]hen it comes to crafting exceptional poor boys, no one does it quite like Parkway Bakery and Tavern."

Renowned hot sauce legend, Crystal Hot Sauce, is thrilled to bring their passion for bold flavors to the table, as well as supporting this exceptional charitable initiative for the very first time this year.
