The New Orleans Jazz Museum, an institution dedicated to cultural preservation and education regarding New Orleans Jazz, is announcing their unveiling of their third floor, state of the art Performance Center on Wednesday, March 12, at 2 p.m.

These renovations to the Performance Center will provide guests with an immersive musical experience to listen to New Orleans jazz via current ATMOS surround sound system, alongside exceptional audio equipment for the museum itself to master and restore musical media to add to their extensive collection. These revisions for the Performance Center were made possible through the Herb Alpert Foundation's generous support through a $5 million capital grant to help preserve and display the history of New Orleans jazz, in all its forms, on a global scale.

"We are grateful to the Herb Alpert Foundation for its generous support. The New Orleans Jazz Museum has positioned itself at the forefront of development in music education, cultural exchange and community outreach," said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser in a press release. "Completion of Phase One of the expansion marks a new chapter in our efforts to promote Louisiana culture to visitors from around the country and abroad."

With Phase One of renovations nearing completion, the New Orleans Jazz Museum will celebrate the grand reopening of the Performance Center with a press conference speaking on the museums' developments and a ribbon cutting ceremony. With a concert featuring the NOLA Jazz Museum Band with Detroit Brooks playing right after the ceremony, this marks an new chapter for the museum as the enhanced space will offer a state of the art venue for live performances, educational programs, and research. However, the New Orleans Jazz Museum is still seeking further improvements.

This grant provided by Herb Alpert Foundation will attract additional donors to complete the Herb Alpert Foundation Education Wing, which will modernize the museum's recording technologies, music business, and apprentice programs when completed. Thanks to these renovations and funding, the New Orleans Jazz Museum will be able to effectively provide education outreach for high school and university students, educators, and visitors through interactive exhibits, online programs, professional classes and instrument lessons, student performances, and teacher training. By bringing together musicians, students, and educators, the art and culture of jazz will be preserved in history and future generations will carry the torch of the art form.

"Supporting jazz through education and public engagement is a priority for the Herb Alpert Foundation. Working in partnership with Louisiana's iconic New Orleans Jazz Museum allows us to nurture and inspire jazz artists and build engaged and appreciative audiences so that this powerful art form will be alive and well for the benefit of future generations," said President of the Herb Alpert Foundation Rona Sebastian in a press release.

With the continued support of the Herb Alpert Foundation, the New Orleans Jazz Museum is poised to not only honor the rich history of jazz but also inspire and educated future generations, ensuring the art form thrives for years to come.
