Jazz Museum Beginning Major Upgrades
The Herb Alpert Foundation has donated a $5
million matching grant to the NOLA Jazz Museum. The grant will allow the
museum to expand the Herb Alpert Educational Wing and modernize its performance
space, as well as renovate the lobby and grounds.
This donation will allow the museum to continue to
grow its many educational programs and exhibits to help the public learn about
the rich history and culture of jazz in New Orleans. This is not the first time
the Herb Alpert Foundation has worked with or supported the Jazz Museum, and museum
administrators and patrons alike are grateful for and will benefit from the
foundation's support for years to come.
The museum's educational wing includes a recording studio
that will be receiving major upgrades. These upgrades will allow many students and
apprentices to gain experience recording music at a professional level in an
educational setting. The museum has worked with both high school and college
students for many years.
The New Orleans Jazz Museum caters to visitors of all ages with a wide range of interactive exhibits and listening opportunities. The museum is included in the collection of Louisiana State Museums that define and highlight the state's history and cultural impact.
