Bringing Honduran Flavors to Mid-City
Alma Cafe is excited to open a new cafe location in Mid-City, located at 301 N. Carrollton Ave., later this year.
Capturing the vibrancy, comfort of a Honduran-kitchen, Founder Melissa Araujo pays homage to her heritage through her cooking. The Mid-City cafe will offer seating for 200 guests, both in-door and out-door, alongside an oyster bar and tortillera for daily, fresh, tortillas. Showcasing the herbs and produce grown in her at-home garden, Araujo will serve homemade juices, syrups, and agua fresca! Similarly, there will be a full-service coffee bar where customers can enjoy house-made Honduran coffee.

Since its debut in October 2020 at 800 Louisa St., Alma Cafe has grown into a popular foodie destination. Despite the world coming to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic shortly after its opening, the cafe was able to flourish and continues to today. Semifinalists for the 2024 James Beard Awards, Alma Cafe boasts an array of impressive accolades and is dearly loved for its great food, atmosphere, and perfectly-crafted cocktails.
Founder and Chef Melissa Araujo honors her Honduran roots by creating culinary masterpieces for customers to enjoy. Inspired by the flavorful practices of the Garifuna, an Afro-indigenous population exiled from the Caribbean to Honduras, Araujo's menu is carefully curated and from-scratch. Breakfast and lunch are served daily from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. and features dishes including Chilaquiles, Baleada Sencilla, Chicharrones, Ceviche, and much more! Dinner is served on Friday nights and includes dishes includes Ostras Magnolia, Arros con Pollo, New England Style Lobster Roll, and more. Sourcing ingredients from local farmers and purveyors, Alma Cafe is dedicated to sustainability and great service, ensuring that each dish is carefully and thoughtfully prepared.
