For several weeks now, the world has watched as the humanitarian crisis has unfolded in Ukraine. Many may feel at a loss for what to do or where to give and offer support. Luckily locally owned Copeland's and Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro are now accepting donations at every restaurant location to aid in the crisis.
They will also be matching donations through the end of March, with World Central Kitchen as the beneficiary of the fundraising initiative. Patrons at Copeland's restaurants can simply add a donation amount at the bottom of their guest checks, and Copeland's will be matching every dollar and sending it directly to World Central Kitchen.
While refugees and those whose lives are disrupted by war face many challenges, one of the greatest fears may be wondering where their next meals may come from. World Central Kitchen has been serving meals to thousands of families escaping the violence in Ukraine, as well as those who remain in the country each day. This is not the first crisis World Central Kitchen has responded to. Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, the organization is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. World Central Kitchen has served more than 60 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world.
World Central Kitchen also works to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions. World Central Kitchen's Resilience Programs strengthen food and nutrition security by training chefs and school cooks, advancing clean cooking practices, and awarding grants to farms, fisheries, and small food businesses. Their programs also provide educational and networking opportunities. Learn more at wck.org.
Together and as a community, we can help make a difference. Even if you don't have much to give, anything counts. Go support an important cause and enjoy some great food by visiting a Copeland's or Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro before the end of March.
