Jazz Fest Do's and Don'ts
Springtime means festival time here in New Orleans, and, of course, Jazz Fest deserves special recognition. With music from all around the world, fascinating art pieces, and incredible foods, Jazz Fest is truly one of the most beloved festivals for good reason. If you want to have the best time possible, it's important to know what you can and can't bring. The guidelines apply to everyday of the festival, but there are specific rules for Thursday, May 2 to note. Check out the list below of the do's and don'ts of Jazz Fest to keep you safe, happy, and ready to take on the festival.
The Do's
- Sealed bottle water
- Bags, backpacks, purses (must be 17" x 12" x 10" or under)
- Small blankets or tarps, either 6' x 8' or under
- A single, collapsible chair
- Strollers
- Service animals (must be fully trained)
- Umbrellas
- Wheelchairs or any medically necessary scooter
- Snacks
The Don'ts
- Wagons or other carts
- Large chairs
- Outside drinks (besides sealed water)
- Large coolers
- Bikes
- Any kind of game- kites, frisbees, hula hoops, etc.
- Drones
- Inflatables
- Playpens for children
- Tents or canopies
- Pets (besides service animals)
- Large umbrellas
- Nothing used to record
- Hazardous weapons, glass, drugs, etc.
- Any form of transportation device: skateboards, scooters (unless medical), hover-boards, etc.
- Solicitation, vending, or promotions
Special Guidelines on Thursday, May 2
Jazz Fest has come out with special guidelines for Thursday, May 2 due to the Rolling Stones performing. There are a few extra rules that restrict the items you can bring. Unlike the other days of the festival, you can't bring small blankets or tarps to cover the grounds. Otherwise, the rules generally stay the same.
Additional Guidelines
It is important to keep these guidelines above in mind when you are packing to head to Jazz Fest. The guidelines are heavily enforced, and the festival can deny you entry if you violate these guidelines, even if you bought tickets.
