New Orleans is globally famous for
having hundreds of festivals every year. People travel far and wide to attend
Mardi Gras, the most famous party in the country, but locals know that there
are hundreds of more festivals to attend.
The word is out—from food, to
music, to niche interests, there is a celebration for everyone. The proof is in
the pudding: USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice Travel awarded the New Orleans
Wine and Food Experience as the 4th best wine festival in the country! Each
year, hundreds of wineries and restaurants participate to help the NOWFE
celebrate the love of excellent food and wine! The celebration of hospitality
began as a four-day event that hosted 11 vintner dinners. Almost no tickets
were sold in advance. Today, the event hosts over 7,000 attendees, while still
creating opportunity for intimate interactions with world renown chefs and
industry insiders. This year, NOWFE participants include wineries such as
Alexander Valley Vineyards and Cloudy Bay, as well as restaurants like
Evangeline and Meril.
The festival is more than just a
great time; over the past 29 years, it has raised over 1.5 million dollars for
local non-profits. Thanks to beneficiaries like The New Orleans Culinary &
Hospitality Institute and Café Reconcile, the NOWFE can support culinary
education through proceeds raised from the festival.
