Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in New Orleans
St. Patrick's Day is only a week away, which means it's time to plan where you want to celebrate all things Irish. WalletHub, a finance website, accumulated a list of the 200 most populated cities in the United States and came up with metrics to determine the best cities to celebrate St. Patrick's day. Of course, New Orleans is in the Top 20. Get your green on and head out to New Orleans.
WalletHub compared 200 cities with four main components, including St. Patrick's Day Traditions, Costs, Safety & Accessibility, and St. Patrick's Day Weather. There were also other metrics that included Irish Pubs and Restaurants per Capita, Average Beer Price, Lowest Price for Three-Star Hotels, Access to Bars, DUI Fatalities per Capita, and more.
Each category was based on a 100-point scale. St. Patrick's Day Traditions was a total of 50 points, Costs was a total of 20 points, Safety and Accessibility was a total of 20 points, and St. Patrick's Day Weather was a total of 10 points. The cities were then given their own scores. New Orleans ranked 19 out of the 200 cities and received a total score of 57.61.
Ranking at 19 overall, here are some of New Orleans top metrics out of the report that was conducted: 15th for Lowest Price for a Three-Star Hotel, 17th for Irish Pubs & Restaurants per Capita, and 23rd for Average Beer Price. Shockingly, St. Patrick's Day celebrations did not originate in Ireland, but began centuries ago in North America. North America is home to a large portion, over 31.3 million to be exact, of individuals with Irish ancestry. This holiday is filled with so much rich history. As the parties and festivities have continued to grow, WalletHub is projecting consumers to spend $7.2 billion this year celebrating. Now, St. Patrick's Day has become a huge celebration in America.
