Friends of New Orleans Used Book Sale
The Friends of New Orleans Public Library is bringing its bargain book sale to New Orleans East's Regional Library on June 21.
Whether you are interested in a mystery thriller or beach read, this sale will have you adding yet another book to your shelf.
The newest book sale is one of five offered by the local nonprofit. Other locations include the Algiers Regional Branch Library and Mid-City Arts Market. A list of all future Friends book sales appears on the nonprofit's website.

"The best advice I can give you is to bring your own big tote bag," Executive Director Shannan Cvitanovic said in a press release. "You'll come for a few books for your kids but will end up with a cookbook, a travel guide, a novel you had been meaning to read, and a few other things that you didn't even know you needed."
The Friends of New Orleans Public Library will offer gently used books at the price of $4 or less, with children's books starting at $2. The profits from the used book sale will fund future library services, such as the Summer Fun & Reading Challenge.
Support the Local Library This Summer
The Summer Fun & Reading Challenge encourages people of all ages to develop a love for reading. The challenge urges participants to become more involved in their local library by attending summer programs and checking out books.
As part of the challenge, participants must read at least 800 minutes during the summer while completing one activity from four separate categories. The activities may range from reading a banned book to planting a seed provided by the library. Participants can register online, via the Beanstack App, or in person at their local library.

Established in 1957, the Friends of New Orleans Public Library has a long history of fostering a citywide passion for reading. Support initiatives such as the Summer Fun & Reading Challenge by browsing through the 10,000 books available at its five used book sales.
