Creole Tomato Festival Returns to the French Market
The Creole Tomato Fest is set to return June 6 and June 7, marking its 40th year as one of New Orleans' most popular annual traditions.
Held at the historic French Market in the French Quarter, the free, two-day event celebrates the local region's signature Creole tomato, as well as the farmers, vendors, and chefs who make it a seasonal, culinary essential.

What to Expect
The festival is a culinary showcase and attendees can expect a wide range of Creole tomato-inspired dishes, from fresh salads and sandwiches to local specialties, served at food vendors and nearby eateries. Fresh, locally grown tomatoes will also be available for purchase.
Beyond the food, the festival delivers a lineup of fun entertainment. Live music will take place across multiple stages throughout the French Market district, accompanied by dancing, family-friendly events, and interactive activities. There are also free dance lessons, kids' events, and even tomato-eating contests as part of the weekend's events.
One of the festival's traditions is a second line parade, inviting attendees to join in a celebratory procession through the Quarter. Participants often wear red attire to match the tomato theme.

Celebrating Local Culture
The Creole Tomato Festival is a tribute to Southeast Louisiana's agricultural heritage. Creole tomatoes are known for their unique flavor due to the region's soil and climate. They are a seasonal highlight for local communities, chefs, and home cooks.
The festival supports local farmers and small businesses by drawing both residents and tourists to the French Market, one of the country's oldest public markets.
