Meet the Performers

Presented by Afrobeats NOLA, the Taste of Africa Festival features an extensive lineup of African and local artists. Most of the performers specialize in afrobeats, a West African genre that blends traditional and contemporary music. This style of music encompasses a wide range of subgenres, including hip-hop and R&B.

Afrobeat artist Kari Jay uses her music to bridge the divide between West Africans across the globe. Audiences can expect the Sacramento artist to perform singles such as "Flava" and "Motion." DJs Ojay, Shan Li, Chika, and T-Roy also will play Afrobeat-inspired music.

Afrobeats is not the only style of music that festival-goers will enjoy. Nkiruka Drum and Dance Ensemble will perform a live African dance and drumming performance. You may know the company from Grammy-winning artist J. Cole's music video for "G.O.M.D." Guyanese percussionist Majek Fingers and Togolese singer Kodjo round out the list of performers.

Enjoy a Taste of Africa

After a night of dancing, you will be hungry for a steaming bowl of jollof rice. Fortunately, festival organizers are collaborating with vendors to offer attendees a taste of Africa.
