New Edition in New Orleans

The New Edition Way Tour rolled through Smoothie King Center on April 3 and, true to form, New Orleans showed up ready. What unfolded felt less like a typical arena show and more like a full-on celebration of R&B.

With New Edition, Boyz II Men, and Toni Braxton sharing one stage, the night stretched into three rich hours of timeless records and powerhouse vocals.

From the jump, the energy was there. The show opened with all three acts together. the smooth, deliberate move set the tone for the night filled with unity, legacy, and a whole lot of love for the music.

Boyz II Men eased into their set with those signature velvet harmonies, gliding through "End of the Road" and "I'll Make Love to You." At one point, they passed out roses to fans along the floor. It all reminded you why they've held their place in music history for so long.

Then, Toni Braxton stepped in and slowed the room down in the best way. Draped in beautiful gowns and outfits, she brought elegance and feeling to every note of "Breathe Again" and "Un-Break My Heart." Her performance was soft where it needed to be and strong where it counts.

The concert was well organized, while also being quite unique from most multi-act shows. Showing their equality on stage, they took turns performing instead of each having their own long set.

New Edition did what New Edition does best. All six members, including Bobby Brown, hit the stage locked in and moving like time hadn't touched them. From "Candy Girl" and "If It Isn't Love" to "My Prerogative," the choreography stayed sharp, the chemistry stayed tight, and each member got their moment to shine.

By the time the finale rolled around, the whole arena had turned into one big sing-a-long. Folks were dancing in the aisles, and voices were echoing back every lyric. It was the kind of night New Orleans knows how to make its own. The legends didn't just perform; they leaned into the spirit of the city and let it meet them halfway. In a place like this, that's exactly how you keep R&B alive.
