Essence Festival 2026 Headliners
The annual Essence Festival of Culture is set to return to New Orleans on the Fourth of July weekend from July 3 through July 5 and have recently unveiled its musical headlines for the 2026 event.
The event is known to be one of the largest celebrations of Black culture, music and community across the country.
Special Guest & Musical Headliners
The evening concerts will be held at New Orleans' Caesars Superdome, with daytime events and the festival's exhibition taking place at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. It has been announced that former First Lady Michelle Obama will be making a return appearence at Essence Festival. She will kick off this year's festival on July 3 with a live version of her IMO: The Look podcast.
This year's musical lineup features a combination of popular performers and contemporary artists. Confirmed headliners include rap artist Cardi B, soul musician Patti LaBelle, and R&B artists Brandy & Monica. Additional acts that are already announced include Latto and Kahlani, with more artists and special guests to be revealed in the upcoming months.
The lineup of confirmed acts are as follows:
- Friday: SZN4, Latto, Cardi B
- Saturday: Josh Levi, Leon Thomas, Patti LaBelle, Brand & Moncia (an additional act will be announced soon)
- Sunday: Doug E. Fresh, Public Enemy, Babyface, Nona Hendryx, Big Freedia, Big Boi, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic (an additional act will be announced soon)

Activities & Events
Beyond the concerts, the Essence Festival is known for its range of daytime events highlighting entrepreneurship and entertainment. At the convention center, attendees can participate in empowerment sessions, celebrity panels, and workshops through programming such as the "Power of a Man" and "Power of a Woman" series. The daytime experience also includes segments focused on Beauty & Style, Food & Wine, and film, along with opportunities to connect with brands and small businesses.

The festival's daytime exhibition and activities are free to attend, with tickets being required for the night concerts in the Superdome. Tickets are currently on sale, with three-day concert packages available. Organizers encourage those interested to purchase early, as the festival typically draws large crowds.
Visitors from outside of New Orleans should keep travel logistics in mind. The Fourth of July weekend is one of the busiest times of the year in New Orleans, so booking flights and hotels in advance is recommended. The Superdome also enforces a clear-bag policy for attendees, allowing bags no larger than 12" x 12" x 6".
