"Meet The Candidates" Experience at National Fried Chicken Festival
A "Meet the Candidates" experience has been added to the list of events for the National Fried Chicken Festival on October 4 and 5.
With city-wide elections drawing near, festival organizers aim to give attendees a chance to enjoy some good food and hear from candidates. The civic engagement initiative looks to give residents the opportunity to connect with those running in the upcoming October election.
The experience is shaping up to be a sure-fire way to bring attention to community issues, candidates' priorities, and the next steps for New Orleans' future.
The experience, presented by Entergy, Urban League of Louisiana, and the Committee for a Better New Orleans (CBNO), was added to the festival's lineup to also get the community more involved in the election. Representatives from Urban League of Louisiana and CBNO will be in attendance to provide key information on voting in Orleans Parish and to help new voters with the registration process. Many in New Orleans are actively working to get residents interested in the electoral process, sparking the idea to offer a space that bridges the gap, allowing candidates to interact with residents.
"Our partnership with Fried Chicken Festival, Entergy, and the Committee for a Better New Orleans...provides New Orleanians with another opportunity to connect directly with the many candidates seeking to lead our city," said CEO and President of Urban League of Louisiana Judy Reese Moore in a press release.

The festival, which is scheduled to take place at the New Orleans Lakefront on October 4 and 5, looks to have a little bit of everything for attendees.
