NOLA's Beautiful Parks
A new study uncovers the most beautiful green spaces in Louisiana, which includes New Orleans' own Longue Vue House and Gardens, as well as Audubon Park.
Longue Vue House and Gardens ranked third out of 10 other Louisiana green spaces, making it New Orleans' top beauty spot. Audubon Park, the second most beautiful spot in the city, ranks eighth statewide.
Leafwell's research involved examining more than 28,000 TripAdvisor reviews to identify Louisiana parks with the highest proportion of mention for being "beautiful." A "beauty rating" was assigned to each park, determined by the percentage of reviews containing the term "beautiful" relative to the total number of reviews. Only parks with a minimum of 20 distinct reviews were considered in the study.
Longue Vue House and Gardens, acclaimed as the most exquisite park in New Orleans, earned recognition in 50% of its 260 reviews. This public garden and non-profit museum remains accessible throughout the year, with complimentary admission for children under the age of three.
The second most beautiful park in New Orleans, Audubon Park, with its beauty acknowledged in more than 40% of 1,700 reviews, offers a range of amenities such as a bird sanctuary, riding stables, a golf course with a clubhouse, and various sports facilities. Orleans Parish residents enjoy complimentary access to the zoo, aquarium, and insectarium on specific days.
The other parks ranked in the top 10 were Rip Van Winkle Gardens in New Iberia, Afton Villa Gardens in St. Francisville, Lake End Park in Morgan City, Biedenharn Museum & Gardens in Monroe, Jungle Gardens in Avery Island, Lake Claiborne State Park in Homer, Gardens of the American Rose Center in Shreveport, and Houmas House and Gardens in Darrow.
