Know Your Rights Information Session Offered for NOLA's Street Performers

Essential Knowledge for Street Performers & Musicians

The Music and Culture Coalition of New Orleans, in conjunction with the Tulane First Amendment Clinic, will host their "Know Your Rights" training at Buffa's Back Room for street musicians and performers.

Located at 1001 Esplanade Ave., the event will cover topics like laws governing street performance, first amendment rights as a performer, understanding "clean zones," and dealing with law enforcement on Thursday, November 14 from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. The event will be free and open to all performers who are looking for more information. The session will also include a questions and answers discussion at the very end, and for more information guests are invited to call (504) 327-7713.

With the upcoming Super Bowl and recent street sweeps, it's important for performers and musicians to know their rights despite the many conflicting and confusing rules regarding performing on Bourbon Street, Royal Street, and Frenchman Street.
