Jazz Fest's 2nd Sunday was The Perfect Closing
Jazz Fest 2023 is over and the 7-day festival gave us what we wanted and more. Over the past two weekends, the New Orleans Fairground has been filled with thousands of tourists and locals, bearing it through heat, rain, and slushy grounds. While this year's Jazz Fest was filled with some not so pleasant weather, the final Sunday was a perfect day to end the festivities.
Not only was the weather just right, but the vendors and attendees seemed to finally have the hang of the new cashless festing. Food lines were moderate and moved quickly. It was a perfect day to get some of the food items that had longer lines during the previous days. While the Crawfish Monica lines were still pretty long, other popular vendors such as Patton's Caterers, serving Crawfish sacks, oyster patties, and crawfish beignets and Ms. Linda's delicious Ya Ka Mein was moving fast.
While festival-goers indulged in the ultimate tastes of Louisiana cuisine, they were also enjoying the amazing sounds from Galactic featuring Anjelika 'Jelly' Joseph, Mumford & Sons, Herbie Hancock, NE-YO,The Radiators, and many more.
In modern Jazz Fest tradition, the final Sunday closed out with the magnificent sounds of Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue as they surprised the audience by bringing out New Orleans own Grammy award-winning superstar musician John Batiste. Also keeping the tradition, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly closed out the Congo Stage while Tom Jones serenaded fans right around the way at the Shell Gentilly Stage.
It's safe to say that the 2023 Jazz Fest final Sunday was a good time. If you missed out on the festivities, it'll be back next year, same place, same time, same amazing experience.
