French Quarter Easter Parade Asks the City For Help
The French Quarter Easter Parade is asking the New Orleans community for donations so the route is properly staffed with officers.
Parade producer Kitsy Adams is aiming to collect $8,000 to invest in adopt-a-cops for the safety of the event and for the protection of parade-goers. Donations can be made over the phone by calling (504) 495-8383. Interested donors may also contribute to the cause via the event's website.

What is the French Quarter Easter Parade?
The French Quarter Easter Parade, formerly the Chris Owens Easter Parade, will take place on April 5 at 1 p.m., with the procession starting and ending at Omni Royal Orleans Hotel. This day marks the French Quarter Easter Parade's 41st anniversary.
The Omni Royal Orleans Hotel Ballroom will host a hat contest and entertainment before the parade ensues at 11 a.m.
The event celebrates Christianity, as well as the legacy of the original parade organizer Chris Owens. Owens was a performer and club-owner who entertained guests of Bourbon Street and the greater French Quarter region for many decades.

Why is Security Scarce?
Since the terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in 2025, there has been heightened security present for popular New Orleans events. The parade used to take place on Bourbon Street, but after the attack occurred, the organization thought it best to relocate.
Each police officer rented for the event will cost the organization $275. Scattering the officers along the route, with multiple per check-point, quickly becomes costly. Thus, Adams asks New Orleanians to help financially in order to uphold all the annual parade represents—community, excitement, and celebration.
