Strawberries are the most locally grown crop in the U.S. and are usually in season from April to August. They're delicious berries packed with Vitamin C and can be found in grocery stores and farmers' markets. They can be eaten alone or paired with delicious items such as salads, waffles, and ice cream. However, you choose to celebrate National Strawberry Day on Sunday, February 27 is up to you, like visiting these five New Orleans locations for delicious strawberry dishes.

Commander's Palace

Known for its world-famous Creole cuisine, Commander's Palace is something to add to your bucket list. Their elaborate dining room filled with chandeliers makes it the perfect romantic dining experience. Besides seafood and turtle soup, they serve Ponchatoula Strawberry Shortcake, a buttermilk biscuit topped with Johndales Farm strawberries, cane sugar, and Chantilly cream. Pair it with their house cocktails, such as the Fuzzy Buffalo or Peach Basil Cooler. 1403 Washington Ave., 504-899-8221, commanderspalace.com

Crêpes à la Cart

This little creperie is the best late-night stop to satisfy your sweet tooth. Located between The Boot and Tulane's Greenbaum Residence Hall, you'll find crowds of students frequenting both places, especially during the evening hours. If you're not a fan of glazed strawberries, not to worry! Crêpes à la Cart uses freshly cut produce for their items, so if you prefer sweet over savory, order the Strawberry Romanoff, Sundae Royale, or my personal favorite--Fruit & Chocolate. 1030 Broadway St., 504-866-2362, crepesalacartnola.com

You can also order their strawberry hand-spun gelato and PB&J chocolates. If you love Sucré, and strawberry pastries tickle your fancy, be sure to stop by on National Strawberry Day for a quick bite! 3025 Magazine St., 504-571-5323, shopsucre.com
