Come one, come all to the Commander's Palace "Don't Stand So
Close to Me" cocktail party this Wednesday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. You don't even have to
leave your living room. Join in for a guided wine-and-cheese tasting, run by
James Beard Award-nominated wine extraordinaire Dan Davis. Together, everyone
can discuss the intricacies of proper wine-and-cheese pairings.
This week's theme is France, so dress how you please. Wear a
beret if you like. During the party, Dan will talk you through sampling three
fantastic French wines, paired with various cheeses, such as a nice red wine with
brie or a white with Cantal.
So, how does this all work? Each ticket is worth a tasting
for two, but if you prefer, you can get cheese for four. You must order by 5 p.m.
on Monday, April 13, to participate in your very own cocktail-from-home.
Delivery will only be available to residences in Orleans
Parish. No-contact deliveries will occur Wednesday morning, but there must be
an adult present to accept the delivery. You will receive a call Tuesday with
all the details.
Everyone will get together on Zoom on Wednesday evening at
6:30 p.m. and enjoy the wine and cheese together. Commander's Wine
Extraordinaire Dan Davis will guide the tasting.
Commander's cares about your safety and your health, so don't
worry: Everything that is delivered to your home will be touch-free. Wine and
cheese preparers have protective equipment on at all times.
Disclaimer: They will be opening all three bottles of wine,
but that doesn't mean that you have to. And if you do, you don't have to drink
them all.
As for the price: It is $99 plus tax, Eventbrite fees, and a
$5 delivery fee. Again, this includes three bottles of wine, two 8-ounce
portions of artisanal cheese, and tons of crackers. To increase cheese service
to four, add an extra $30.
