We are in the heart of Carnival season now, and that means we’re also in the midst of prime king cake season as well. As much as we all love king cake, one whole cake can sometimes be a bit daunting. This year, several restaurants and stores around the Big Easy have worked out a solution to our problem: king cake by the slice. If you’re in a pinch and can’t wait at a bakery, several grocery stores and markets have added king cake slices to their stock as well. The Fresh Market, Langenstein’s, Robert Fresh Market, Rouses, Simone’s Market, Whole Foods, and Zuppardo’s Family Supermarket all carry king cake slices and will even arrange for them to be picked up, but supermarket selection goes fast and flavors vary.
