The designer denim store True Religion opened on the corner of Canal and Bourbon Streets this week; the store took the place of a touristy t-shirt store which shows the rapid revitalization of the Canal St. corridor. True Religion began in Los Angeles in 2002 with a vision to create a high-quality jean at an entry-level price with an innovative five-needle thread at two-stitch-per-inch process, True Religion is also very tied into the music world and bases many of their t-shirt designs off of rock band tour shirts. The store was packed with people including councilwoman LaToya Cantrell, actors from the upcoming show Queen Sugar, and Trombone Shorty who performed later that day on the balcony of the store.
