Spreading Holiday Cheer
Toups Family Meal, the nonprofit organization founded by Chef Isaac and Amanda Toups, is set to host its first annual Thanksgiving Meal Box Drive on Saturday, November 23. This initiative aims to provide 1,500 New Orleans families with free Thanksgiving grocery meal boxes, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a hearty holiday meal.
From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., volunteer drivers will distribute boxes filled with Thanksgiving essentials. Each box will contain a whole chicken (allowing time for thawing), along with traditional sides such as collard greens, potatoes, mac 'n' cheese, and cornbread. A dessert will also be included to complete the festive meal. As an extra touch of holiday spirit, each box will feature a milk chocolate advent calendar, allowing families to count down to Christmas with a daily treat.
Those wishing to contribute to this heartwarming cause can make donations through Toups Family Meal's website. Individuals interested in volunteering as drivers can register via an online form.
The Toups Family Meal Thanksgiving Meal Box Drive will commence at the nonprofit's distribution facility, located at 845 N. Carrollton Ave. in New Orleans. Volunteer drivers will depart at 3 p.m. and continue distributing boxes throughout the city until 5 p.m.
This initiative exemplifies the spirit of community and giving that defines the holiday season, providing a helping hand to those in need and spreading joy throughout New Orleans.
