Visit Tibetan Monk Khentrul Lodrö Thayé Rinpoche at Octavia Books

Octavia Books is hosting a public talk, Q&A, and book signing with Tibetan Monk Khentrul Lodrö Thayé Rinpoche at the Spyre Wellness Center on Oct. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m to launch his new book The Power of Mind: A Tibetan Monk's Guide to Finding Freedom in Every Challenge. This book provides readers with a modern and accessible guide to Buddhist mind practices, and hopes to help all readers improve their quality of life through these practices, whether they are Buddhist or not.

The Power of Mind introduces readers to the Buddhist Seven Key Points of Mind Training, which ultimately works to transform negative emotions such as anxiety, anger, and sadness, into positivity that will benefit yourself and those around you.

"Peace and happiness can be attained, but not by searching for something in the outside world. They start within us then extend out to the entire globe," states Khentrul Rinpoche.

Khentrul Rinpoche's Incredible Journey

Rinpoche was originally raised in northern China, and ran away from his home at least three times in order to receive a better education. While in school, Rinpoche went hungry and was forced to survive off of the butter found in Tibetan tea. However, he was determined to get his education and eventually wear monk's robes, and is now one of the most highly educated Buddhist philosophers in the world.

He is now the abbot of a monastery in Tibet and leads meditation groups across North America, Australia, and South Africa. His focus on teaching Buddhist mind training practices specifically has led to many of his students naming him "the mind training Khenp."
