In case you're too young to remember or you aren't native to New Orleans, NOPSI stands for the New Orleans Public Service Inc. This stately and grandiose building was erected in 1927 with all of the art deco touches of the time, and citizens of the city would go here to pay their utility bills. The Salamander Hospitality Company headed up by the brilliant Sheila Johnson wanted to pay homage to the buildings past as a utility company building whose employees loved working there by having all of the grandeur and beauty of the 1920s combined with the convenience of the modern era alongside rustic touches and electric puns; you can see the transformer elevator in the ballroom as you walk past the UnderCurrent Bar and Public Service Restaurant. The rooftop pool and bar on the 9th floor has incomparable views of the tallest buildings in the city, and it will make you feel both right at home and in a brand new place.
