The Models Return to New Orleans
Local '80s music band The Models are returning to New Orleans for an anniversary performance.
One of the city's most beloved bands from the early MTV-era will celebrate a major milestone with The Models' 45th Anniversary Show at Jimmy's Music Club on Saturday, February 7, marking a reunion in the city where their music legacy began.

Musical History
Formed in 1980, The Models emerged during an energetic time for the New Orleans music scene. Local clubs were packed and venues such as Jimmy's, Jed's, and Tipitina's served as starting points for young music acts. Alongside bands including the Red Rockers, The Cold, and The Shieks, The Models built a following through gigging and shows with heavy crowds.
The Models shared stages with major artists of the era, including Duran Duran, Joan Jett, and the Stray Cats, while touring throughout the Gulf South and up the East Coast. Though commercial success, the band's reputation as a live act continued to grow.

Transition to Human Drama
In 1985, the band made the move to Los Angeles, eventually reemerging under the name "Human Drama" in 1986. During this time, the band signed to RCA records in 1988 and proceeded to release 17 albums, helping them to generate a strong international fan base.
The band was especially popular in Mexico, where live performances functioned as massive celebrations. The 2017 documentary Seven Days In Mexico, which was released on Amazon Prime and Apple TV, followed singer Johnny Indovina and his journey returning to songwriting. Human Drama's 2021 album Blurred Images was able to hit #1 on Amazon's alternative chart and the band also had five sold-out performances in Mexico City in 2024.
In addition to this, Indovina has also released three albums on his own, once as a solo artist and two as a part of the Sound of the Blue Hart music group. The Models' and Human Drama's guitarist Micheal Ciravolo also created the project Beauty in Chaos and released six albums and EPs.

A Return to New Orleans
Throughout their world travels, The Models did not lose their connection to New Orleans. Their event at Jimmy's Music Club on February 7 event begins at 8 p.m. and will feature opening sets by Glamarama and Christian Serpas.
For fans of New Orleans' music history and anyone who enjoys seeing hometown artists return to their roots, this anniversary celebration will guarantee a night of nostalgia and musical pride.
