The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is a staple in our local community and beyond. The eight-day-long festival, hosted by Shell, will take place from Thursday, April 25 to Sunday, May 5 in 2024 at the Fair Grounds. The lineup is a mix of all different genres—everything from jazz, rock, pop, folk, and many more. The lineup won't be announced until around mid-January of 2024, but with the recent announcement of the Rolling Stones, we have some theories of who else might be playing.
Five MORE Musicians That Might be Playing Jazz Fest 2024
1. Lauren Daigle
Louisiana-native Lauren Daigle headlined Jazz Fest 2022, so it should not be a big shock if she ends up returning to perform at Jazz Fest 2024. The contemporary Christian singer is already going to be in the South at the start of Jazz Fest during "Lauren Daigle's Kaleidoscope Beach Weekend" in Miramar Beach, Florida. She'll be performing there from April 23 to 25, so that gives her plenty of time to come to New Orleans and perform sometime during Jazz Fest's second weekend. Fingers crossed that she'll be there and fans can hear her Grammy Award-winning song "You Say."
2. Kari Jobe
Grammy Award-nominated contemporary Christian singer Kari Jobe could end up following Lauren Daigle down to New Orleans for Jazz Fest 2024. The Waco, Texas-native will also be taking part in "Lauren Daigle's Kaleidoscope Beach Weekend" in Florida. If she ends up making it to Jazz Fest, she would be a fitting addition to, say, the Gospel Tent during the fest's second weekend. Jazz Fest will certainly be getting holier if both Kari Jobe and Lauren Daigle end up appearing.
3. Jon Batiste
Also taking part in the same "Kaleidoscope Beach Weekend" as Lauren Daigle and Kari Jobe is one of the Greater New Orleans area's favorite sons: Jon Batiste. The Metairie-musician has certainly kept himself busy thanks to all of the accolades he's gathered thanks to his 2021 album We Are, but he has also made it an effort to return to his old stomping grounds from time to time. His performance at Jazz Fest 2023 proved that he has a very strong following in the Big Easy. With Baptiste also launching his first headlining North American tour in 2024, let's hope he includes New Orleans in one of his stops.
4. Noah Kahan
Folk-pop singer-songwriter Noah Kahan is another Jazz Fest prediction due to the fact that he will be traveling through the South for two confirmed festivals. His first appearance will be at Moon Crush Pink Moon in Miramar Beach, Florida on April 21. His second confirmed performance will be at the Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta, Georgia on May 3. So that leaves him just enough time to head his way to New Orleans and maybe play on either May 4 or 5 for this upcoming Jazz Fest.
5. Weezer
Iconic alt-rock band Weezer has never performed at Jazz Fest before and that's something that could definitely change if the stars end up aligning. Just like Kahan, Weezer will also be performing at the Shaky Knees Music Festival. They will be performing at that festival on May 4, so that gives them a huge chuck of time to perform at Jazz Fest's first weekend or even during the second weekend on May 3 or 5. With the amount of hits the band has under its belt, they could definitely liven up the crowds at Jazz Fest if they end up coming.
Five Bands That Could Headline Jazz Fest in 2024
Although we won't know the lineup for Jazz Fest for a little while, we have some ideas on who could possibly headline the fest along with the Rolling Stones. Whether it be bands who have previously had to cancel Jazz Fest appearances finally getting their shot to play or bands with tour schedules that perfectly coincide with the 2024 dates, we are expecting the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2024 to be full of incredible live performances.
