Celebrating both the strong future and the deep impact of Black women in Americana, folk, and roots music, the Mothers of Americana Gala will start off the 2025 BlackAmericana Fest with an exhilarating night of artistry. This inaugural evening will be unforgettably vibrant through an assortment of star musicians and chefs alongside a variety of activities supporting rising voices.
The Americana Voices Dazzling the Gala

The night will be filled with music by New Orleans legend with a deep voice of soul, Charmaine Neville; Lilli Lewis, a bold folk rock artist, advocate, and diva; and up-n-coming Amethyst Starr, known for emotionally resonant vocals and lyrics. The gala aims to pay tribute to the Black women who defined the sounds of American music and continue to shape its path today through a soulful evening of intentional gathering and connection.
With music from well-known and rising stars, delicious foods, and a silent art auction and raffle, this event will support the two-day BlackAmericana Fest in its second year that is held each September in New Orleans.
New Orleans Delicacies Being Served at the Gala
Bringing together a live experience of the rich tradition that is Black virtuosity, the night will be filled with melodies, movement, and delicious plates by two of New Orleans most sensational chefs.
Tanjarine Kitchen, honored as one of USA Today's Top 20 Vegan Restaurants in the Southeast, will serve food at the gala alongside Chef Dez of the Taylored Chef, known for his vibrant, unique, and flavorful creations as a private chef. To finalize the menu of innovative takes on traditional delicacies, desserts will be served by Cupcake Fairies.
