Start your engines, because motor sports racing will be returning to NOLA Motorsports Park for an action-packed weekend!
For the first time ever, the Fanatec GT World Challenge America will dive into NOLA's premier facility, which has undergone renovations in three years' time. It'll feature more than 100 high-speed machines from some of the top car manufacturers in the world, including big names such as Lamborghini, BMW, Mercedes-AMG, and Ferrari. Also included are podium ceremonies, a grid walk, and autograph sessions with professional race car drivers.
According to Jack Baldwin, SRO Pirelli GT4 America Series Director, NOLA's high-tech racing venue is the ideal spot for racers to compete thanks to the track's "fast and flowing" sections. In fact, the newly renovated track received overwhelming praise from racers.
"Part of racing is adapting to change, but also getting to enjoy some great locations around the world. I'm excited to step onto the NOLA Motorsports Park for my first time and also look forward to the gaps where we'll get to enjoy the great city of New Orleans!" Derek Deboer, Pirelli GT4 America from The Racers GroupPorsche, said.
The event, which takes place May 20-22, was planned by Greg Gill, president and CEO of SRO Motorsports America, in just a matter of three weeks. Despite not being part of this year's SRO race calendar, he and his team were able to adjust dates and venues for future racing events.
"We are appreciative of NOLA for being able to step in to maintain our schedule on such short notice," Greg Gill, president and CEO of SRO, said.
NOLA Motorsports Park is a world-class racetrack featuring a 2.75-mile road course, go-karting track, a 300,000 square mile skidpad, and a speed shop. They've hosted a Verizon IndyCar weekend in 2015, which was one of its biggest events of all time.
