Civic Leadership Academy Spring 2026 Applications
Brought to the community by the Major's Community Engagement Office, local residents have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the functions of the New Orleans government through the Civic Leadership Academy.
The program hopes to inspire institutional and social change for the city, improving residents' quality of life.
What is Offered
For active community members interested in hands-on educational experience in the realm of the New Orleans government, the Civic Leadership Academy is a great opportunity.
For eight weeks every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., the program will hosts classes at City Hall, which cover the operations and system of city government.
Educational and enriching activities include tours, demonstrations, and presentations. The program hopes to service applicants by teaching leadership skills and encouraging individuals to take collective action on behalf of the city's community, improving the quality of life for residents.
How to Apply
Interested applicants can apply for the program via the academy's online portal. Application capacity may be reached, and applicants then must join the waitlist.
The Major's office also offers several additional community-centered educational programs. They include the Neighborhood Cares Initiative, the Neighborhood Summit, Neighborhood Leaders' Roundtable, Young Adult Engagement, Senior Citizen Engagement, and Coffee on Your Corner, among other programs.
Eligibility and Deadlines
Individuals eligible for the academy are expected to be 18 years of age or older, pursue involvement in a neighborhood or business association, and reside in New Orleans.
Deadlines apply under one of the two following circumstances: Applications submitted by March 2 at 5 p.m. will be reviewed or capacity is reached prior to this date and proceeding applications are added to the waitlist.
