Men Pink Wear Pink Bourbon Tasting
The Original Bourbon Club's French Quarter Chapter hosted a public bourbon tasting as a fundraiser for Men Pink Wear Pink to benefit the American Cancer Society.
TOBC Chapter president Ed Shedlock and Rubenstein Hotel owner Kenney Rubenstein—both Men in Pink Ambassadors—co-hotsed the gathering, welcoming club members and guests to the venue where they were greeted by Caileen Coleman, a senior development manager for The American Cancer Society in the New Orleans area.
The bourbon tasting was comprised of Guardian Angel straight bourbons, finished in an Amarone cask, a toasted cask, and a rye cask, as well as Horse Soldier barrel strength bourbon. The whiskeys are the brainstorm of a military veteran husband-and-wife team honoring their service. Their selections are produced at NOLA Distillery in New Orleans.
Beyond the tasting samples, the event was enhanced with a full bar, live music, small plate bites, as well as donation items such as custom-made Mardi Gras parasols created by cancer survivors, MWP-themed cigars, cocktail specials, and high-end auction items, and raffle items including a $500 gift certificate to Rubenstein's department store. All proceeds contributed to the organization's campaign goal to raise $250,000.
Men Wear Pink is an American Cancer Society that recruits men as community leaders and ambassadors to raise awareness—and funds—for the fight against breast cancer. These campaigns empower men to use the color pink as a symbol to support research, patient support, and early detection initiatives, and to encourage others to get involved in the cause, all in support of women battling the disease.
