Brazil has come to New Orleans, in the form of the Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse. Newly opened in the JW Marriott Hotel on Canal Street, Fogo de Chao offers a classic Brazilian eating experience. Guests can fill up plates from the Market Table, providing a vast array of salads, fruits, veggies, cold cuts and cheeses. There is also the Feijoada Bar, which has beans, rice, soup, bread, and all the fixings. But if you want the whole hog (literally)-- the Brazilian full monty-- opt for the Full Churrasco Experience. It’s unlimited meat brought to you tableside and cut fresh off the skewer, by “meat waiters” known as passadores. These guys bring around round after round of the finest cuts of pork loin, filet mignon, lamb chops, bacon-wrapped sirloin…even sausages, chicken hearts, and the tender picanha, which is a churrasco signature and the prime part of top sirloin. Sides to compliment your protein-rich meal include garlic mashed potatoes, caramelized bananas, and polenta. And definitely don’t pass up the pao de queijo, freshly baked soft, chewy, melt-in-your-mouth rolls made with yucca flour and parmesan cheese. Though you will easily fill up on all the Brazilian delicacies coming your way, try to leave room for dessert. Some of the most tempting include the tres leches cake, molten chocolate cake, and New York Style cheesecake with your choice of sauces.
