Are you an aspiring college student, who's looking to make it big in the field of journalism or public relations? Or, perhaps, that future journalist is a friend of yours? Whatever it may be, the Press Club of New Orleans is offering a scholarship opportunity for journalism and public relations students, alike, that is hard to pass up.
Since 1957, journalists throughout the New Orleans' area have gathered together with a common vision for their industry. Working as one to promote and improve their field, the Press Club of New Orleans has become a powerhouse in the print world through collective professional development over decades of time. Today, the club continues to unify New Orleans' journalists through educational, professional, and social events, all with the goal of promoting and maintaining the field of journalism, with the future of the industry in mind.
From now until Friday, July 1, the Press Club of New Orleans will be holding applications for scholarship grants to three qualifying journalism or public relations college students. The scholarships are $2500 each and will be awarded to rising college sophomores, juniors, or seniors that graduated from a New Orleans' metropolitan area high school and are currently enrolled in public relations, broadcast, or print journalism programs. Aspiring participants from both in-state and out-of-state colleges and universities are welcome and invited to apply for this opportunity!
If you're interested in winning one of the Press Club of New Orleans' three grants, the application can be completed here. Along with the application submission, candidates must provide their cumulative GPA and three to five examples of published pieces or samples, depending on their course of study. All the application requirements will be accompanied by a brief statement regarding candidates' financial needs and career aspirations. Grant recipients will be selected and notified in advance, with an invitation for recognition at the annual awards gala, held by the Press Club of New Orleans.
