Calling All Up-And-Coming Musicians

The New Orleans Public Library is currently accepting new music submissions for Crescent City Sounds, a music streaming service that was created by the library to focus on local music.

It is only the third time the steaming service is adding new music to its catalog since its launch in 2022. This is the perfect chance to boost local musicians' followings, but also for them to step into the scene of local music.

Every year, Crescent City Sounds continues to expand their horizons with more albums and music. When it was founded, they started with only 30 albums. In March 2023, 50 more albums were added. Now, 75 new artists will be added, so make sure to submit your music to show off your musical talent.

John Smith, New Orleans Public Library associate, led the project and will be part of the 2024 selecting process. Daniella Cherner, Girl's Rock Evol Elibom, Steve "What Style" Williams, Jamie Dell'Apa, Susan Lacey, and Isaiah Gardner are some of the curators.

Applicants whose music is chosen will receive a stipend of $250. The artists will still have copyright to their own work. Crescent City Sounds will keep your album with your music for five years. It doesn't hurt to submit no what your music is because all genres of music are accepted.

Since Crescent City Sounds focuses on local music, applicants must mainly perform in New Orleans and have recent music. Recorded music from more than five years ago will not be accepted. It is also important to note that there is a minimum of songs or track length that must be submitted. Single tracks are allowed, but there has to be at least four songs to an album to accompany the track. If not, the track must be at least 20 minutes long.

Submit Your Music Today

It isn't too late to send in your music. This is a great opportunity for local artists to get their music out and spread the word about new albums and songs they have produced. For more information about submitting your music and guidelines, visit crescentcitysounds.org/submit.
