3rd Annual Juneteenth Festival at the Whitney Plantation
The Whitney Plantation in Wallace, LA, will be hosting its third Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival on Saturday, June 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.The festival is in commemoration of Juneteenth, the holiday celebrating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, and the event celebrates that freedom through culture, education, and community engagement.
The Event
This free, family-friendly event will feature live performances, informative panel discussions, a marketplace showcasing local Black artists and artisans, local food vendors, and educational storytelling events that connect the past to the present.
Guests can also explore the grounds with complimentary self-guided tours of the Whitney Plantation Museum, the only site in Louisiana dedicated exclusively to preserving and revealing the history and legacy of slavery in America. This family-friendly event will also feature other interactive activities for all ages to immerse themselves in, making this event an engaging yet meaningful way to honor Juneteenth.
