Where to Watch the Fireworks This Fourth of July
As we get closer to Independence Day, the New Orleans community is getting excited for more lively celebrations to commemorate our country. If there is one thing New Orleans knows how to do, it is to celebrate.
Join the rest of the New Orleans community at one of these locations to enjoy some fireworks and honor America's 250th birthday.

The Riverfront
The New Orleans riverfront is the prime location for watching fireworks, particularly during the annual "Go 4th on the River" celebration on July 4 at 9 p.m. The free fireworks show can be seen on the Eastbank of the Mississippi River along the Downtown Riverfront or on the Westbank, facing the Downtown skyline.
The beloved traditional fireworks display and centerpiece of our city's America 250th birthday celebration is produced by the Riverfront Marketing Group (RMG) in partnership with the New Orleans Tourism and Cultural Foundation and more than 20 dedicated community sponsors. For more information on Go 4th on the River, check out their website.
Algiers Point
A historic neighborhood across the Mississippi River, Algiers Point provides a charming, small-town atmosphere with 19th-century homes and scenic riverfront views. It offers one of the best low-key, panoramic views of New Orleans fireworks over the Mississippi River, often favored by locals to escape heavy French Quarter crowds.
Take the Algiers Point-Canal Street Ferry for $2 ($1 for children) for an easy, scenic trip to the levee and a way out of downtown traffic. Go 4th on the River will also be visible from Algiers Point. At Algiers Point, a relaxed atmosphere and an unforgettable view are guaranteed.

Rooftop Bars
Enjoy the fireworks while sipping on a specialty cocktail at a rooftop bar this July. Where Y'at's carefully curated list of bars with scenic views might help to locate the right place to stop. The ideal spot will be along the Mississippi River or overlooking the Central Business District.
Some good places to see the best fireworks show will be downtown with a view of the river. Capulet on Dauphine Street overlooks the Mississippi River and beyond the French Quarter. Vue also has the perfect view for the riverside fireworks, located on Canal Street. Local rooftop bars are a great way to be able to enjoy drinks and food in a comfortable setting while watching the fireworks.
Hotel Views
For a, literally, elevated experience, booking a room or simply heading to some of the hotels downtown puts you in prime position for the fireworks. The Omni Royal Hotel is a standout option, with its rooftop pool and observation deck offering sweeping views near the riverfront. The rooftop bar is open to non-guests, so there is no need for a reservation to snag a spot.
Additionally, The Hilton New Orleans Riverside throws a pool party for the occasion, making it one of the most festive ways to celebrate Independence Day with a drink in hand. For something more refined, the Four Seasons New Orleans delivers breathtaking views through its signature floor-to-ceiling windows. For more information and tickets to the pool party at Hilton, check out their website.
Tips & Tricks to Toast
Planning ahead is the key to a stress-free Fourth of July along the riverfront. Arrive early to stake out your spot, and either grab dinner beforehand or pack snacks and drinks to keep the group happy while waiting for the show. Bring blankets and portable chairs, especially if the crew is settling in along the levee, where a comfortable setup can make all the difference for a long evening under the stars.
Parking in downtown New Orleans on the 4th requires some strategy, as heavy traffic, festival crowds, and strictly enforced no-parking zones along the riverfront make last-minute arrivals a headache. Some good parking options include the lots at JAX Brewery, the Riverwalk, the French Market's riverside lot, the Hilton Garage, and the Canal Place Garage. Thankfully, Independence Day is a metered parking holiday in New Orleans, meaning metered parking is free. Be sure to stay mindful of all other posted parking regulations, though, as they are still enforced.
