Oktoberfest with a Portuguese twist

34 Restaurant & Bar is hosting an Oktoberfest-themed dinner with a Portuguese influence, featuring the culinary expertise of Chef Horst Pfeifer of Middendorf's and Chef Chris Dos Reis of 34 Restaurant & Bar.

The special occasion will take place on Friday, October 24, as a regular dinner service with a unique seasonal menu. Guests can reserve any time available on OpenTable with the purchase of a ticket.

The evening will feature a customized dinner menu from two renowned chefs, optional wine and beer pairings, and gifts from Superbock, the official Portuguese beer sponsor.

About the Chefs

34 Restaurant & Bar opened in October 2024 by Chef Emeril Lagasse as a tribute to his Portuguese heritage. Chef de Cuisine Chris Dos Reis is known for taking traditional Portuguese cuisine and adding a modern touch.

Born in New York, Dos Reis spent his formative years cooking in Michelin-starred restaurants in Denmark, Sweden, London, and running pop-up kitchens in Portugal. Dos Reis brings his experience as a Portuguese American chef to New Orleans by sharing his love and knowledge for his culture and its cuisine.

Middendorf's is known by locals and tourists alike for their famous "thin fried catfish." Chef and owner Horst Pfeifer was born in Germany and grew up in a small Bavarian town where he found a love for growing and cooking his own food.

Pfeifer worked at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Munich while gaining his master chef's degree. He gained the title as the youngest European Master Chef at 24 years old and opened his first restaurant in New Orleans at 28 years old. Chef Pfeifer now owns one of the most successful seafood restaurants in the South.
