When rapper The Game isn’t making headlines for his IG comments comically displayed on The ShadeRoom, it’s easy to forget he’s actually a great rapper with a nice fluidity in his flow.
The Compton rapper released a 10-track companion soundtrack for his forthcoming mobile gaming app called Block Wars; the app will be available later this summer. The soundtrack for Block Wars is now available via Blood Money Entertainment/Fifth Amendment/Entertainment One.
Block Wars is a strategy mobile game in which the player (The Boss) navigates violence and turmoil in the proposed environment with hopes of eradicating those who feed off doing wrong and controlling the black market. The app is now available for download on iTunes.
The Game spoke about the inspiration behind Block Wars which comes right after the controversial deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile that sparked outrage in the country. He explained, "I'm loyal to Compton and will always shed light on my city. With that comes the trials and tribulations of life on the streets. We tried to educate people with my documentary Streets of Compton, so they could walk away with a little more knowledge than they had before. Now, here's another light in the form of a gaming app and some new music for your entertainment. That said, I'm calling out the hip-hop community to rise up, come together and use our platforms to force change and make an impact against injustice in this world. No more just posting a hashtag or photo saying we gotta change. Our fans support us and we got to support them back. Use what you got to really help the next person. We gotta take real actions to make this a better world. These are our people and they need us. We got to give back. #YouGottaGiveAFuck #YouGottaCare."
Don’t let his comedy antics fool you because The Game has used his public platform to speak openly about the decimation of African-American men. He helped, alongside Snoop Dogg, to lead a peaceful march to the LAPD headquarters. He also assisted in the organization of a town-hall type of meeting with various Los Angeles gangs in an effort to make streets more unassailable.
The Game will be releasing a new music video for his Jeremih assisted joint “All Eyez” produced by Scott Storch very soon. He’s also promoting his 1992 Block Wars Tour on Instagram with established dates for his fanbase. Check out the tracklist below and sampling here:
