Bayou Bar's Brian Landry and Peter Harris released their new music-infused cookbook Rhythm & Roux: The Simmer & Swing of New Orleans at the New Orleans Jazz & Blues Market to a packed house of friends, family, and the city's most famous professional eaters and drinkers. As the partyers sipped Lebanon Iced Teas, ate Shrimp Muddy Waters and Banana Puddin', Chef Landry and Musician Harris signed copies of their weighty book.
The crowd eventually made their way into the concert hall for a lively concert. The Bayou Bar All-Stars played a long set of hot jazz numbers, rotating through members so that everyone could shine. Some of the all-stars included local favorites Stanton Moore, Steve Masakowski, and Pedro Segundo.
While those who attended the party were able to get their copy of Rhythm & Roux early, everyone else will have to wait until Tuesday, November 3rd. Pre-orders, however, are open now. This big book with 100 recipes and 31 musician interviews will make the perfect gift for lovers of New Orleans culture.
