New Orleans Walk to End Alzheimer's Returns
The Walk to End Alzheimer's will return to New Orleans on November 21, 2026, taking place at the University of New Orleans.
Organizers say the return to New Orleans marks a new commitment to involving the local community in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
Hosted by the Alzheimer's Association, the annual walk is part of a nationwide effort to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's support and research. The event will draw participants from across the region, including families, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and other advocates.
New Leadership
The November walk will feature new leadership and an expanded focus that extends beyond a single-day event. Central to that effort is the launch of ALZ Cares New Orleans, a year-long initiative aimed to support caregivers and increase understanding of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
Organizers say the program is designed to provide ongoing access to educational resources, community programming, and support networks for individuals and families affected by the disease.

Addressing a Growing Challenge
Alzheimer's is a significant public health issue in the United States, impacting millions and placing heavy demand on caregivers. Local initiatives such as ALZ Cares New Orleans intends to address gaps in support while fostering awareness of the disease.
Advocates emphasize that community-based programs are crucial in helping caregivers navigate challenges connected to long-term memory care.
Sponsors and Community Partners
The 2026 event is supported by several sponsors, including Edward Jones, CenterWell, and The Carrollton. Organizers also highlight ongoing collaboration with local partners as key to the event's success.
These partnerships help fund research initiatives while also supporting outreach and education-based goals.
Participation and Registration
Participants will take part in team fundraising and the Promise Garden ceremony, which honors those affected by Alzheimer's.
Organizers are encouraged to register teams in advance and take part in fundraising activities leading up to the event. Those interested can register for the event online. Individuals can also donate to a walker, team or the event itself online.
