New Orleans Public Library Begins Their "Why Vote?" Series

Prepare for Elections with the Public Library

With election season coming up, the New Orleans Public Library is hosting seminars for adults and teens called "Why Vote?" and featuring local politicians, reporters, and community service leaders. Each seminar will take place at different library branches and at different times, so interested people should keep an eye on their calendar.

Seminar Information

Regardless of date and location, each meeting will be an hour long and feature at least one community member who is there not only to discuss what they do but to listen and learn from the community as well. Voting registration support will be available at these events. Listed below are the dates, times, speakers, and locations of each event in the "Why Vote?" series.

  • September 14 at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.: TBD at East New Orleans Regional Library
  • September 19 at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Morgan Shannon of the Power Coalition at Norman Mayer Library
  • September 26 at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Ashley Crawford, J.D. of Operation Restoration at Nora Navra Library
  • October 3 at 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.: Lindsey Navarro of El Centro, Mary Moran of Our Voice Nuestra Voz, and Miguel Berenguer of Telemundo New Orleans at the Main Library *This event will be spoken in Spanish*
  • October 12 at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Mike Perlstein of WWl-TV at the Reach Center
  • October 17 at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Shaq Cossé of the Louisiana Bucket Brigade at Robert E. Smith Library
  • October 24 at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Judge Calvin Johnson at Norman Mayer Library

Registering for events ahead of time is suggested and can be done so by clicking on your desired event from this list. The New Orleans Public Library will also be hosting events where residents can register to vote and ask voting-related questions.
