Remembering the Past and Imagining the Future
New Orleans' Marigny Opera Ballet has announced the premiere of HERE, an original program of contemporary ballet, in December 2024.
First built in 1847 as a Catholic church by the German immigrant population, the Marigny Opera House has grown into one of the city's greatest outlets for performing arts. HERE is made up of two contemporary ballets focused on the historical and present-day significance of the Marigny Opera House. This original ballet combines electronic elements such as synthesizers and classic ensemble instruments for a unique accompaniment.
Performance Info
Music for HERE was composed by Ted Joyner, co-founder of indie pop band Generationals, and will be performed live by The Delachaise Ensemble with the assistance of Jeff Pagano and Brain Danos. Choreography for this show was done by Christian Denice and Artistic Director Diogo de Lima. HERE reflects on the passage of time and the way history embeds itself into our present through a spectacular feat of movement and music.
Performances will take place on December 6-8 and December 13-15 at the Marigny Opera House. Tickets can be purchased now through their website and range from $40 to $75.
