Cherries Jubilee Opens May 8

Cherries Jubilee is a heartwarming play about friendship, love, loss, and the beauty of change and will run from May 8 to 17 at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre.

The comedy, which is produced by the Jefferson Performing Arts Society, was written by four New Orleans locals: Marcy Nathan, Harriet Nelson, Joyce Pulitzer, and Lynne Goldman.

About the Play

Cherries Jubilee is set in New Orleans' Garden District and is about five best friends and 40 years of friendship. It follows the friends after their Newcomb graduation in 1960. Ashley, Sarah, Helen, Laura, and Linda are played by Lorna Dopson, Lauren Gauthier, Lauren Smith, Savannah Chiasson, and Micheala Brown. The play covers motherhood, marriage, and aging, with a witty spirit throughout. Cherries Jubilee will leave you with a smile on your face, and it is the perfect show to see with a loved one or best friend.

Ticket Information

The show is running on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays on the weekends of May 9 and May 16. The play starts at 7:30 p.m., 2 p.m. on Sundays, and tickets are $42. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com.
